I heart Brooklyn

I am loving being on the East Coast in the middle of summer....really, I'm not kidding! The 2 weeks I have been here have been great... weatherwise we've had thunder, lightening, rain, record heat and some cool San Francisco days too.  I LOVE all of it.  Coming from SF bay area where the weather in the summer is often spelled in 3 letters.... F O G, it is so much fun to experience the extremes.  I am just sad there are no fire flies in Brooklyn.

When I'm not starring with wonder at baby Loops I have been able to wander about a bit and see some great art, eat some outrageous meals and shop a bit (Guadalupe has a baby clothes obsessed Grammy).  In case you find yourself in Williamsburg any time soon here is a brief list of stuff that I have loved.....

eats:
Premiere Maison - oysters and cocktails
M Shanghai - soup dumplings
Marlow & Sons - the best fish
Pagoto - soft serve on the walk home at night...delish
Samuri Mama - sushi tacos
Egg - breakfast

shopping
Sweet William - cutest baby clothes ever
Mini Shoe Mart - one word..Worishofer
Moon River Chattel - stuff

We took the East River Ferry over to Manhattan.  It was very fast and cool.

2  Best art shows I saw were Playing House at the Brooklyn Museum and Schiaparelli and Prada at the Met.  Yesterday John and I walked the Chelsea Galleries and saw some wonderful stuff too including this exhibition that had both terrific paintings and an interesting concept.

I'll be sad to leave tomorrow (after the Brooklyn Flea) -  especially sad to leave the little snuggle bunny who has stolen my heart.

New Life

I am in Brooklyn helping my daughter and son in law with their beautiful  baby girl born 1 week ago today.
Happy Birthday Guadalupe Raquel.
It is a delight and a privilege to be a small part of helping this family grow.
I am in grammy heaven.
Everyone is doing so well I am going to take some Sunday time and go to the Brooklyn Museum where I am excited to see this show.

P.S.  The Brooklyn Museum R O C K S.
I loved Playing House and discovered the work of Ann Agee
(blurry picture below was taken thru glass but if you click on the link you will see her un-blurry web-site).
