OH BOY! this weekend starts fourth & clay Holiday and I've been working like a crazy lady getting ready. Yesterday I loaded the kiln with new cups and bird vases. I prayed to the kiln gods while doing my special kiln god dance for a good result. Please come by and see what rae Christa and I have been up to. 11 of our artist friends will be joining us so it should be pretty lively around 4th ST. For the Birds?

After setting up the Alta Bates Show I am now free to really concentrate on getting ready for the holiday show at fourth & clay. We don't really have a clue as to what these holidays will bring us. In this shaky economic climate will more people "Buy Local ..Give Handmade"? Will the holiday selling season go to the birds (maybe not such a bad idea as I an making these little bird ornaments..hee..hee)? Only time will tell but whatever happens Christa, rae and I (with 11 of our artist friends) are setting up to have a great time.

Alta Bates Hospital Show

The bushes have been placed, the t-pots and cups are on their pedestals. What a funny space to have a show...in a hospital lobby. I have to say though, when I was setting up this morning, I was amazed at the variety of folks who were stopping and looking at my work. This is an entirely different crowd than our usual fourth & clay customer. I got all sorts of comments like this one from a mom speaking to her young daughter - "Honey, you could do that!" to an elderly gentleman in a wheel chair who took a moment to tell me how much he liked what he saw. I feel good about the show and about being part of the community. Come by and see for yourself if you can - tomorrow is the reception from 3-5 and the show will be up until mid January.
