Crack Pot

For the last few days at the studio EVERYTHING I touched turned in to a complete and utter disaster. I have been invited to show floral inspired work in a show at Gumps. With about had 2 weeks notice I decided I needed some new work to round out what I already have. So far I have managed to break more work than I have created. Cracks appeared in four intricately made ewers when I left them uncovered, attempting to dry them too quickly. An error code appeared on my kiln during a routine bisque firing (UGH...I am not even sure what that means - but I think it got to temperature???). Last night (BEFORE Happy Hour, mind you!) I picked a beautiful green wear piece, I had just finished the mishima technique on, by the rim and shattered it....what an idiot...these are all things I should have learned not to do in pottery 101. I am bull in the china closet, a crack pot in the pottery. All these problems are happening before the stage that usually gets me....the dreaded glazing. Today has got to be better.

This is the sad scene inside my garbage bucket.

Sorry about the mishaps. Whenever I go though times of one poopy thing after another.. I think of it as a cleansing of all the crappy stuff. When it's over and done, there will be a nice long period of smooth sailing :)

aw.the kiln gods. they present the maker grace and wrath. breath. breath. this day will lead to the next. keep on keepin' on. that is the only offering you can give them. a maker will always make it.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I especially can relate to the DOH!!!... Me and Homer... I can relate to how eating a donut (maybe a dozen) can help.
